Medical Imaging Systems
FEKT-BPC-ZSLAcad. year: 2025/2026
The content of this course is the study of imaging systems used in medicine. At first, the necessary concepts of imaging process theory and imaging process quality assessment are defined. Individual imaging systems are described with respect to the physical principles of their operation, the construction of the devices and their clinical applications. The course covers the complete spectrum of imaging systems that are used in clinical practice.

Aims
Introduction to the physical and technical principles of the design of the most important medical imaging systems used in clinical practice.
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to describe all clinically used imaging systems. For each system, the student can explain the
physical principles of operation, design aspects, mechanisms of representation of output information, and clinical applications for each imaging system.
