Practical English 1

The English course focuses on the development of reading, listening, speaking and writing skills with an emphasis on the acquisition of language resources and vocabulary from level B1 to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It is based on the teaching materials and requirements of the international First Certificate in English (FCE) examination. Preferred approaches and methods include the communicative and task-based approaches using multimedia teaching resources.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
A semester test (max. 40 points, min. 24 pts, the test may be repeated only once).
An examination: listening (max. 30 pts, min. 15 pts), reading (max. 30 pts, min. 15pts).
The content and forms of instruction in the evaluated course are specified by a regulation issued by the lecturer responsible for the course and updated for every academic year.
Aims
The student uses the English language as an independent user at B1-B2 CEFR level. He/she discusses the roles of individual in the society,
lists and describes a number of free time activities, characterizes different jobs and professions and is able to apply for a job, knows and uses the language means for the description of people and places, communicates in the situations connected with travelling, identifies the features of formal and informal styles and uses them correctly in the written communication, uses the grammatical structures according to the requirements of the given level and the course syllabus.
