Long-term visa for the purpose of STUDIES
Application for long-term visa for the purpose of studies can be filed at a Czech Embassy abroad.
This type of visa is issued for a period that is demonstrated within the confirmation of studies of a university accredited study programme, however, not longer than 1 year. You must fulfil the purpose of your stay for the whole duration of your residence permit. With this residence permit you are able to to leave and re-enter the Czech Republic territory repeatedly. You can also travel within the Schengen Area without a visa.
Necessary documents:
- Valid travel document
- Photograph, not necessary if a pictorial recording has been made of the foreign national
- Proof of accommodation
- An original of a confirmation of studies or confimration of enrolment
- Proof of funds for the residence
- Document similar to an extract from the Penal Register record issued by the state of which you are a citizen

Extension of visa
- If your current long-term visa is valid for a period shorter than one year, you can apply to extend visa repeatedly but only up to the total period of one year
- If you want to stay in the Czech Republic for a period longer than one year, you must apply for a long-term residece permit

Student Mode
The project Student Mode is the concept of visa facilitation for students from selected third countries who are admitted to study at selected universities in the Czech Republic. The function of Student Mode is to accelerate access to the relevant embassy for an applicant seeking a long-term visa/residence permit for the purpose of studies. Placing an applicant on the list of the Student Mode does not guarantee a positive processing of the visa application.
Student Mode is availabe for students from Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Philippines, Georgia, India, Iraq, Iran, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Colombia, Costa Rica, Morocco, Mongolia, Peru, Ecuador, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi.
